Born in 1980, I grew up in a town called Zeitz in former GDR. In this town I lived my first 17 years. In 1999 I went to university in Marburg to study film and social anthropology.
During the time of my studies, I always combined the theoretical part with the collection of practical experiences. As an intern and later consulter at the GTZ in Senegal, Ethiopia and Uganda I had the chance to get in closer contact with the continent that I fell in love with.
What followed was a specialisation on filmmaking in Eastern Africa and an intense reading of ethnographic film theories.
